sienaOnce you leave Cornieto farm and reached the main road, turn left to Fabro and take the A1 towards Florence, and after about 40 km exit at Val di Chiana and follow the road to Siena. For the visit of the historical center of the city you will not be spoiled for choice, even if an aperitif in Piazza del Campo, where twice a year we run the famous “Palio” seems to be a must. The return trip is dedicated to relaxation along a long stretch of the Via Cassia, through the rolling Tuscan hills rich in farmhouses, cypresses and cultivated fields, providing continuous views to photograph every season of the year. Exit and follow the signs for Siena Buonconvento or the Via Cassia.

radicofaniBuonconvento, fort plain, tight spaces within its walls is a village also mentioned by Boccaccio in one of his stories, was built on the Via Cassia, where the river flows Ombrone nell’Arbia. Beyond the town and south along the Cassia always, you can reach Radicofani: the village is worth a stop, especially in day light, to the breathtaking scenery that can be seen from the host country, not surprisingly, a meteorological observatory. Leaving the Cassia, we head towards San Casciano, a country known for its thermal baths of the same name. The water gushes out of the ground at a temperature of nearly 50 degrees and has therapeutic properties known since antiquity. To return to the farm Cornieto: to reach the village of San Casciano Squares and the valley road, Ponticelli turn right following the signs for first Fabro and then to Monteleone d’Orvieto.
